No Patch compared to this…

By MELISSA MEEHAN

THE Patch Primary School has been named the Biodiversity Primary School of the Year at the Sustainability Victoria annual awards.
Up against schools in Port Fairy and Aspendale, The Patch Primary School took home the top title celebrating their sustainable education embedded in everything they do.
The school is situated on 10 acres of rural land, with another five acres of council land attached to it.
The students developed a master plan based on a school habitat census to protect and improve wildlife habitats, focused on restoration and revegetation works.
Teacher Michelle Rayner said the awards were a wonderful experience for eight students who went along.
“They were able to go into the city, see the Melbourne Convention Centre and meet a number of people and television personalities who congratulated them on their win,” she said.
“They received $1000 to go towards their programs too.”
