Bullies put on notice

By KATHRYN BERMINGHAM

YEAR 8 students at Monbulk College will not be bystanders to bullying.
Students at the school are fighting the epidemic with the help of a large bulletin board erected outside St George’s Anglican Church.
Having designed the board themselves, the students hope it will gain the attention of passers-by and cause them to stop and think about bullying.
Home group teacher Sandra Miller said she was thrilled with the efforts of her students, and that everything possible must be done to stop bullying.
“I am very proud of my Year 8 class and the commitment they have made to this cause.
“This is a good time to show that the Dandenong Ranges are not going to put up with this anymore.”
Ms Miller and seven of her students attended a church service to explain the principles behind the board. She says the response from the community has been phenomenal.
“The students were overwhelmed with the feedback they received from the community and it has made them more determined to stop bullying,” she said.
The board and all costs associated were donated by Fletcher’s Real Estate in Monbulk.
