POLICE are calling on witnesses after a group of youths were seen lighting bundles of paper outside shops in Lilydale last week.
It is believed that up to four youths were seen at 10pm on Monday night starting fires in Main Street.
While there was no damage to the shops in question, police are keen to speak with those involved.

Police probe car arson
MONBULK police are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a car in Monbulk’s Main Street over the weekend.
Emergency services were called out to a fire inside a Ford sedan parked on the side of Main Street Monbulk at 5.02am on Sunday 14 December.
CFA crews managed to push away a nearby car, and contained the fire to the one vehicle, which however was destroyed.
Police are treating the fire as suspicious, and are urging anyone with information to contact Monbulk police station on 9756 6266.
Three times legal limit
AN OLINDA man will face court after being caught driving three times over the legal alcohol limit in Monbulk on Saturday.
The 44-year-old man drove through a roadside breath-testing station in Monbulk on Saturday 13 December, where he returned a positive reading for an excessive Blood Alcohol Content (BAC).
He was taken to Belgrave police station for an evidentiary breath test, where he recorded a BAC of 0.187 per cent.
The legal limit for fully-licensed drivers is 0.05 per cent BAC.
The driver’s license was immediately suspended, and he will be summonsed to court at a later date.
Fined for possessing graffiti tools
A LILYDALE youth will be over $700 out of pocket after being caught with graffiti tools in Monbulk over the weekend.
Monbulk police issued the 16-year-old Lilydale youth with a penalty notice and a $738 fine for possessing a graffiti implement.
He was near the bus stop in Main Street Monbulk when he was issued with the penalty.
No damage or graffiti was recorded at the bus stop.
