Woman killed in Knoxfield crash

A FERNTREE Gully woman was killed and another injured after a crash in Knoxfield this afternoon.
Police investigators believe a Nissan sedan crashed into a Kia van about 1pm on Tuesday 7 April at the intersection of Lloyd Street and Ferntree Gully Road.
The passenger of the Nissan, a 76-year-old Ferntree Gully woman, died at the scene, while the driver, a 70-year-old Ferntree Gully woman, was taken to hospital for observation with minor injuries.
The driver of the Kia van, a man, was uninjured and assisted police at the scene of the crash.
The Major Collision Investigation Unit and Knox Highway Patrol are investigating the circumstances of the crash.

The road toll currently sits at 77 deaths since 1 January – two more deaths than the same time last year.
