Light shed on foreign investment

GUEST speaker Dr Mona Chung will this week visit the region to talk about the potential benefits of foreign investment for business and farmers.
Many farmers are concerned about the role and extent of foreign investment.
However, there can be substantial benefits that this investment can bring to the agri-business sector.
During her speech, Dr Chung will highlight more about what is driving Asian investment in Australian agriculture.
Dr Chung will answer questions like what foreign investors are looking for in a farm business.
Or, the impacts on the local community and region and how involved the investors are.
Dr Chung is from Deakin University and is one of Australia’s foremost academics on the intricacies of Chinese business culture and an executive member of Australia Chinese Business Council.
Joining her will be Brendan Larkin from the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources, talking on export opportunities in Asia including some anecdotes on successful international partnerships with Victorian businesses and also trends in Asia.
The two will share their decade’s long experience on China-Australia trade and investment and what are the opportunities and considerations for Victorian agribusiness.
