Aitken’s great game

THE skies cleared for the occasion at Emerald Golf Club last Saturday, with a crisp morning warmed by the expectant golfers all hoping for the best in the round of bisque par.
Dave Aitken (27) found the format and the going to his liking as he waltzed into the tuck shop with a +8 score to head the field in B Grade and overall.
Ken Hill (15), in A Grade, stole the show with a great round of +6.
There were numerous great rounds that did not result in wins, headed by Peter Clowes’ +6, Dean Shannon’s +5; with Steve Town, Phillip Crossley and Ken Sumsion all carding +4.
John Fisher was nearest the pins on the 4th and the pro pin 18th, Shannon did the trick on the 7th, Clowes the 12th and Broc Reynolds was nearest on the 13th.
After a Titanic struggle, it was Daisy Mackey who triumphed in the ladies bisque par from Brianna McCoy.
On Wednesday’s Obstinately Filtered Golf (OFG), members played a sedate round of stableford.
The scoring was exceptionally sedate with Brian McCoy (34) heading the field with net 71.
Peter Clowes scored 72, while Ken Hill and Gerran Wright managed 73.
The handicap pennant team played at home against eastern Sward and just claimed a win.
This win qualifies them for the final against the same opposition next week.
The highlight of the day was Ross Martin, being 4 down on the 13th tee, managed to win that hole by having a hole in one … but he still lost the match.
