Belgrave man charged over commercial cannabis crop

GEOFFREY Barnard, 61, of Belgrave has been charged with drug related offences after Croydon Divisional Tasking Unit raided properties in Belgrave, Ferntree Gully, Boronia and Bayswater yesterday morning.
Mr Barnard has been charged with cultivating large commercial quantity of cannabis, trafficking a large commercial quantity of cannabis, and associated offences.
Warrants were executed at three commercial properties as well as Mr Barnard’s home address in Wattle Avenue, Belgrave at about 6.50am Wednesday 19 August.
Police located sophisticated hydroponic operations in warehouses along with sophisticated cannabis oil extraction equipment.
Mr Barnard was remanded to appear to Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this morning for a filing hearing.
