A whole load of trouble

By VICTORIA STONE-MEADOWS

A FERNTREE Gully man has been fined Thursday morning 10 September for towing an overloaded tandem trailer along Ferntree Gully Road.
Nunawading Highway Patrol police intercepted the 43-year-old driver in Scoresby, about 11.10am, carrying practically everything in his trailer.
The trailer load included discarded metal household items including fridges, lockers, stove and even a kitchen sink.
When police stopped the man they found the trailer’s load was inadequately secured and the car was found to be in an un-roadworthy condition.
“This was a rolling disaster waiting to happen,” Nunawading Highway Patrol’s Senior Constable Everett said.
Police issued a defect notice and the man was fined $228 for having an insecure load, $379 for using an unsafe vehicle and $228 for failing to have a clear view to the rear.
