Tiny tots take up heroic cause

By JODIE SYMONDS

TINY tots from Magic Garden Childcare Centre unleashed their inner superhero for a good cause.
The powerful kiddies dressed up as super heroes for a whole week and each donated a gold coin to raise money for muscular dystrophy.
Director Mirren Mackenzie said the staff and students at Magic Garden Childcare Centre in Ferntree Gully raised $300 during Superhero Week.
“Anything superhero the kids just love,” Ms Mackenzie said.
Funds that were raised during Superhero Week will support the Muscular Dystrophy Australia services and help raise awareness as well as funding vital research.
The tiny tots joined thousands of other Australians who wore super hero outfits to help raise awareness.
Muscular dystrophy is a neuromuscular, genetic disorder that in time deteriorates muscle strength and function.
About one in 600 Australians is affected by the disorder, and life expectancy for an individual affected is until early adulthood in most cases.
