Right tools for Men’s Shed

By VICTORIA STONE-MEADOWS

THE Montrose and District Men’s Shed has received a $2000 grant from the Federal Government to buy new equipment.
The grant was made possible through the National Shed Development Program and secured with the help of Casey MP Tony Smith.
“Since its official opening in 2014, the Montrose and District Men’s Shed has grown from strength to strength,” Mr Smith said.
“The club’s new equipment will allow it to support even more people in the local area, such as schools and community groups.”
The Men’s Shed members have said they will use the grant money to purchase a table saw, drilling aids, sandmaster, and woodturning tool set.
Ben’s Shed in Yarra Junction also received some grant money to buy a lathe and accessories, a pressbrake, guillotine and rolls, drill sharpener, welder, and metal cutting band saw.
“Congratulations to Ben’s Shed and the Montrose and District Men’s Shed, and I look forward seeing their achievements in the coming months,” Mr Smith said.
