A NEW program that encourages friendships between older and younger generations has received a positive response at Mercy Health in Montrose. The Intergenerational Playgroups concept aims to keep aged care residents connected to their local community. Mercy Health Lifestyle and Volunteer Manager, Karren Gooding, said the response had been overwhelming. “We trialled the playgroups at other sites last year and they were a hit with everyone who took part,” she said. The aim is to eventually make them a permanent fixture at Mercy Health sites around Victoria. Pictured is Mercy Health, Montrose, resident Theresa Chia with Eliza (left, 3) and Havana, 4.
