MELBOURNE Duo the Weeping Willows will bring their brand of bluesy Alternative County to the Hills this March in promotion of their new album.
The second LP from partners Andy Wrigglesworth and Laura Coates, ‘Before Darkness Comes A-Callin’ draws from their experience of travelling through the southern United States.
“In 2014/13 we went on tour of southern states of US and the album is inspired by that,” Ms Coates said.
“We played the Americana Music festival and were greatly influenced by the beautiful countryside we experienced.”
The duo also had the opportunity of recording this new album in the United States which has been a dream of the band for a long time.
“It was pretty intimidating but the people we met were really sweet and patient and had the most amazing gear,” Ms Coates said.
“Everything sounded amazing and they made us feel comfortable and give best performance.
“It was bit different, we were a bit of a novelty being Aussie in the Deep South. People were curious about a couple of Australians playing American music,” she said.
“But everyone was really warm friendly and welcoming folk who want to know your story.”
The Weeping Willows will be touring through The Basin and Ferntree Gully later this month with the official release date of the album on 4 March.
You can catch this mesmerising duo on Monday 14 March at House Concert, Ferntree Gully, along with Shane Nicholson and at The Basin Music Festival on Saturday 19 March.
