NOW in its fifth year, Wandin’s annual Herb and Chilli Festival will be spiced up by a hot musical duo from the US.
The renowned ‘Body and Soul Duo’ is coincidentally holidaying in the region and, luckily for festival organisers, the pair is able to help out with the musical program.
On show will be the hot guitar licks of former US guitarist, Sean Mullen, who will play his brand new ‘Blutopia’ show, featuring a selection of great guitar hits over the past 30 years.
Sean, an intellectual property lawyer by day and guitar virtuoso by night, is a world-class player who, together with his wife, Sandra, makes up Body and Soul.
They are a rare duo capable of covering styles from acoustic jazz, to roots ‘n’ blues and top 10 hits.
Sandra said the festival happened to coincide with a planned holiday.
She said it was a coincidence they were booked to be in the area when festival organisers approached them to help out.
Sean said it was the perfect gig for them, given Sandra comes from a long line of great cooks and foodies.
“Bringing music to regional and remote areas is a particular joy for us,” he said.
“Seeing different parts of the country, while doing what we love, is a real privilege.”
The festival brings together experts and renowned herbalists, who offer educational and engaging workshops for festival-goers.
There will be cooking demonstrations and great entertainment from world-wide, which makes for a great weekend of family entertainment.
On offer will be more than 70 stalls that showcase tantalising dishes from Mexico, Cambodia, Turkey, India, South America and Europe, as well as the freshest local produce.
The festival will be held on 19-20 March, from 10am to 5pm, at 125 Quayle Road, Wandin (off Warburton Highway).
Tickets available online or at the gate on the day.
