Hawks spread their wings

MONBULK JUNIOR FOOTBALL
MONBULK Junior Football Club was far and wide for Round 6, playing at five different venues.
Under 9Bs played at Emerald and were missing three players from last week. Despite being undermanned, they played very well for the full four quarters. The highlights for the day were the defensive skills, talking and chasing, and pressure on the opposition which saved countless goals. A great team effort; no result recorded.

Under 9As produced an amazing effort. There were plenty of goals, staying in positions and most importantly great teamwork; no result record.

Under 12Bs produced back-to-back four quarter efforts, which was the highlight this week. They played the wide open spaces of the Belgrave ground with great awareness. Result: Monbulk defeated Belgrave.

The Under 14Bs’ second time up against Emerald after going down by a few goals the first time. They were able to turn it around and win by a few goals. They showed how hard they have been working on running for their teammates at training and it paid off with a good win.

Under 10s had to fight back today to overcome a strong opposition side.
A wonderful effort by all players, who continue to improve every week; no result recorded. Awards: F. Thomas-Tatti, J. Koelewyn, C. Hooper, L. McDonald, J. Abraham.
Under 12As were up against Yarra Glen – not knowing what to expect, they had a bit of a wake-up call.
Even contest up to half-time and needing to get in first for the ball and in front. After half-time, the Hawks switched up a gear and played in front. A great team effort; well done.

Under 14As – the game was played in great spirit with four of the interleague players playing for Upwey-Tecoma’s Under 14Bs side, ensuring a close contest. In terms of development, the players took a step forward in working together and sticking to team structures; no result recorded.

The Under 16s had a tough game against good opposition. The first half was good and they worked hard at the stoppages. In the third quarter, the boys didn’t work hard enough and Healesville got a good lead. They worked hard to finish the game, which was pleasing.
