Grants up for grabs

DO you have an idea for a community, arts or heritage project?
Apply now for the Yarra Ranges Council ‘Grants for Community Program’ and turn your idea into a reality.
Grants recipients can receive up to $10,000 out of the $340,000 available in council funding across three streams: Festivals and Events, Arts and Heritage Development and Community Development.
Yarra Ranges Mayor Jason Callanan is encouraging all community groups and residents with a locally focused idea to apply for this year’s Grants for Community round.
“The program supports local projects that build on the social and cultural life of the region,” Cr Callanan said.
“I’m excited to see council and the community partnering to drive positive outcomes across Yarra Ranges.”
Grants for Community funding has supported a number of community projects over the years, including the famous Belgrave Lantern Parade, which, now in its 10th year, lights up the Belgrave winter night, transforming the region.
“These locally based projects both enrich our community and create long term benefits to help Yarra Ranges become a stronger, happier and healthier place to live, work and visit,” Cr Callanan said.
A panel comprising three community members and two council officers will access each application, before putting recommendations to council.
For more details, visit www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au/communitygrants or call the Grants Team on 1300 368 333.
Applications for the 2017 Yarra Ranges Grants for Community programs close on Sunday 17 July, 2016.
