PLANNED burns are set to take place at locations around the Yarra Ranges from today until this Friday.
Weather conditions permitting, planned burns will take place 1km south-west of Kalorama, at Tremont and School Road (Upper Ferntree Gully), and near Stoneyford Road, Silvan.
According to the Department of Environment Land Water and Planning (DELWP), the burns will be complete by 4pm on Friday 26 August.
DELWP said smoke might be visible from nearby localities and communities.
Residents are advised to stay clear of areas where burns are taking place or that have been undergoing planned burns recently.
Meanwhile, road travel may be hazardous due to low visibility.
If you are experiencing any symptoms that may be due to smoke exposure, the Department of Health advises that you should seek medical advice or call Nurse on Call on 1300 606 024.
