Thai restaurant in mourning

MONBULK Thai restaurant Mountain High Thai changes attire out of respect for the late King of Thailand.
Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej died on Thursday 13 October, and, out of respect and in mourning, Mountain Thai staff will wear full black outfits, rather than traditional Thai costumes.
King Bhumibol Adulyadej was the world’s longest reigning monarch, and died at age 88.
He ascended the throne in 1946, following the death of his brother King Ananda Mahidol, by a gunshot wound.
Owner of Mountain High Thai, Peter Hellier, said King Bhumibol Adulyadej was regarded as a demigod to his people. A small altar dedicated to the King is now situated next to the Buddhas altar, in the restaurant.
On Sunday 23 October, Buddhist monks attended the restaurant to pray. Mountain High Thai is situated on 138 Main Street, Monbulk.
