Big bucks for SES truck

By Jodie Symonds

IN RECOGNITION of the hard work the Emerald SES does for the community, the Emerald Lions Club presented a $20,000 cheque to go toward a new truck.
The cheque was given to Emerald SES at the Grow It Bake It Make It community market in Emerald on Sunday 6 November.
Emerald Lions Club Membership chairman Ray Spencer said the SES was chosen to be the recipient of the cheque in recognition of their hard and constant work throughout the Dandenong Ranges.
“They’re really instrumental to our community with the work they do,” Mr Spencer said.
“Fallen trees, road rescues, and trauma – they really see it all.
“They’re also a really lovely bunch of people.”
The $20,000 came from a trust the Emerald Lions Club had, which mainly goes toward youth rescue.
“We would love to do more for the SES, but it’s hard to raise the money,” Mr Spencer said.
“It’s really a pleasure to be working with people like those in the SES.”
Mr Spencer said the Grow It Bake It Make It market had a great turnout, and Emerald SES sold a record number of sausages at their sausage sizzle.
“They were flat out,” he said.
The market is run by the Emerald Lions Club, and is held on the first Sunday of every month, except January.
