For the third year, the Upwey Fire Brigade is fortunate to be involved in another Open Gardens fund-raiser over the weekend of 8 and 9 April, with two amazing Upwey Gardens open to the public.
Elly and Leon Roos will open their fabulous property, Elleon Gardens – at 59 Ferguson Street, Upwey – as part of Open Gardens Victoria.
They have held 10 previous open garden events and continue to present amazing ideas and surprises each year.
The open garden will be held from 10am to 4.30pm.
Finished with a ‘personal touch’, the garden features stone walls and artfully hand-tiled staircase.
There are countless arrays of plants to view, along with numerous sections of garden.
The owners confess to being ‘collectors of odds and sods’, so there are pots spilling with succulents and recycled items.
Children will particularly love exploring this garden and discovering the quirky animal status and curiosities around every corner.
Devonshire teas will be available at the open weekend.
There are many lovely spots for visitors to take their tea and sit and enjoy a view, or be enveloped by the garden.
Entry is $8, while children under 18 are free.
Meanwhile, Karen and Gary Scott will also open up their magic property at 66 Ferguson Street, Upwey.
Karen is famous for her Mandala artwork, her tours and teaching, and this amazing couple have put 33 years of love and serenity into their garden.
Upwey Fire Brigade has been nominated to receive the proceeds.
This is a major fund-raiser for the Upwey CFA and they are in the process of updating two vehicles, so funds are desperately needed.
Secretary of the Upwey Fire Brigade Auxiliary, Margaret Dumpleton, encouraged the community to support this event.
“We are excited to be associated once again with such a fabulous event and such wonderful people,” she said.
“This is a real feelgood event, which is very much needed in our world today.”
