Right note for Christmas

By Peter Douglas

Christmas in the hills is about to hit the right note, with Knox Christmas Carols sure to deliver something particularly special for this year.
Residents from Upwey, Tecoma, Ferntree Gully and further beyond the Dandenong Ranges will this year hear from one of the very best in the business, with Karen Andrews (aka Miss Murphy, a finalist in hit TV show, The Voice) set to deliver some Christmas cheer.
Miss Murphy will headline a huge variety of entertainment for the night on Saturday 2 December, from 4pm to 10pm (main show from 8pm), at the Wally Tew Reserve (Brenock Park Drive, Ferntree Gully).
The Voice favourite will impress the crowds with her renowned soulful voice, which will lend itself just perfectly to some favourite carols.
Ms Murphy became a household name back in 2013, with her performances inspiring audiences nationally.
Also joining the star will be the Royal Australian Navy Band, one of Australia’s most prominent and respected military bands.
The wall-to-wall pre-show entertainment will feature Emotion 21, the now famous Bethany Fisher kids show ‘Kidding Around’, a massive ‘free’ fairground, arts crafts and activities, a line-up of exclusive local singers and dancers and a new Christmas market.
Add a Christmas inspired pantomime of unimaginable proportions, the famous candle lighting ceremony, last year’s Knox Factory Winner, a mythical appearance from Santa and a giant fireworks display.
So in all, you have what promises to be a magical night.
Knox Carols by Candlelight is Knox City Council’s flagship access and inclusion event, which celebrates the International Day of People with Disability.
