Upwey Fire Brigade is preparing to celebrate its 100th year of serving the community.
The much-loved brigade’s Centenary Festival Committee is in the middle of planning a fitting tribute, which will take place throughout the weekend of February 24 and 25.
Just some of the activities planned to date include a fire vehicle procession and, potentially, a vintage aircraft fly-over.
To help mark the occasion, festival committee member and former brigade captain Peter Marke is calling on the community to provide any memorabilia that could go towards the many historical items that will go on display.
Mr Marke hoped the community would embrace the event.
“We are hopeful that our proposed activities will complement the already successful annual billy cart race event on the Sunday and, together with our events, Upwey will feature a major celebration weekend,” he said.
Also in the pipeline is a commemorative centenary book, which is being written by local historian Arthur Winzenried.
