Expressions of interest are now being accepted from schools for the Rapa Lantern and Light Children’s Film Festival.
RAPA is a not-for-profit organisation that runs classes for young people aged 7-18 in film making, drama, and dance.
Earlier this year the group announced their Lantern and Light International Children’s Film Festival which will take place at the Belgrave Cameo in 2019 and coincide with the Belgrave Lantern festival.
The festival will feature three days of International and Australian short films specifically made by young people.
Local Bendigo Bank branches have approved funding to Ranges Academy of Performing Arts (RAPA) Inc. to provide film making mentoring to schools in the region and RAPA are now putting the word out.
“This exciting initiative recognises that whilst some teachers & schools might be excited to engage in making a film with their students, they might not have the necessary film production background to do so,” RAPA director, Rainsford Towner said.
“This can integrate into existing curriculum activities including literacy, writing, story construction, sciences, environment and social awareness”.
“You hear about a lot of children’s film festivals, but most of them are films made for children not by them.”
“Students will be part of the jury and be part of the selection panel.
“They’ll be integrated into the experience themselves and take ownership for it … it will be a great opportunity for budding film makers.”
If any schools are interested in this please email your interest to email@example.com and RAPA will contact you to arrange a time to discuss the mentoring in more detail.
