Serious crash in Mount Evelyn

POLICE are appealing on witnesses following a collision that left a woman in a critical condition in Mount Evelyn this afternoon.
It is believed the collision occurred on Bailey Road between a white Hiace van and a Lancer sedan about 4.30pm.
A 28-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital.
Her passenger, a nine-year-old Mount Evelyn girl received minor injuries and was also taken to hospital.
A 24-year-old Lilydale man, the driver of the van, was taken to Maroondah Hospital before being arrested.
He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
