LADDER leader Wandin hosted last season’s runners-up Mount Evelyn in the D. J. Strachan Shield as the Yarra Valley Cricket Association’s final home and away round got under way.
Batting first Wandin completed the day’s play at 8 for 306 with J. Rowe (86) and Scott Hasan (68) being the main contributors.
Kane Lones took 4/96 for Mount Evelyn.
In other matches, Warburton-Millgrove was dismissed for 207 and Healesville will resume at 1/15.
Seville, at home to Coldstream, reached 4/354.
Silvan was all out for 150 at Yarra Junction. In reply, Yarra Junction is 2/45 heading into day two.
Woori Yallock, at home to Yarra Panthers, reached 6/317.
In the R. A. Finger Trophy, Mount Evelyn was all out for 273 (G. Wighton 69, Ash Bryans 61, Brad Darvell 51) while with the ball Steve McIntyre took 5/52. In reply Wandin is 1/37, with Simon Young 23 not out.
In other matches, Seville, away to Gruyere, was all out for 114, and the home team will resume at 2/66.
Launching Place United reached 218 against Woori Yallock, and Healesville’s Dan Rogers took 8/28 to help dismiss Warburton-Millgrove for 52.
