Grants up for grabs

Junior Landcare and Biodiversity grants are now up for grabs.

Energy, Environment and Climate Change Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said applications were open and $410,000 would be available.

Victorian schools, kindergartens, childcare centres, Scouts, Guides and youth groups can apply for up to $5000 for projects that boost biodiversity through developing, improving or restoring habitat for native plants and animals.

“These grants support projects that protect our natural environment at a grassroots level, as well as providing health and social benefits for young Victorians,” Ms D’Ambrosio said.

Grants are also available for programs that engage or educate young people to value and actively care for Victoria’s natural environment.

“We’re giving young people the education and tools they need to care for our native plants and animals,” Ms D’Ambrosio said.

Landcare Australia will administer the grants as part of its Junior Landcare program, in partnership with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP).
