Anzac Day assault progress

Melbourne Divisional Response Unit investigators have identified the four men believed to be involved in an assault during a football match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Anzac Day.

Investigators believe the men became involved in a verbal dispute with a 27-year-old man while watching Collingwood and Essendon play about 6pm on 25 April.

At the end of the game, the group approached the victim and allegedly assaulted him before one man pushed him to the ground.

Two men, a 29-year-old Ferntree Gully man and a 31-year-old Boronia man presented at a police station this morning.

The pair were interviewed by police and were released pending further enquiries.

Two further men have been identified and are expected to be spoken to by police at a later date.
