Upwey driver stopped after hitting over 50km over speed limit

Along Burwood Highway in Upper Ferntree Gully on the evening of Tuesday 14 February, an Upwey man was stopped after being detected driving at 117 kilometres per hour in a 70-kilometre zone.

The 24-year-old Upwey sped past an unmarked Highway Patrol vehicle on his way to a chiropractic appointment, entering the car park the wrong way past a No Entry sign.

He will be charged with driving at a speed dangerous, exceeding the speed limit and disobeying a no entry sign.

He will lose his license for a minimum of 12 months and is set to appear before a Magistrate in the near future.
