Knox City Council will be providing free flu vaccines to eligible people, including children and seniors.
People eligible for the free vaccines are children aged six months up to four years and 11 months old, seniors aged 65 or older, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people, pregnant women or people at least six months old with a medical condition that may increase the risk of flu complications.
Knox City Council said evidence may be requested to receive the flu vaccination and its Health Services team will advise you before your appointment.
“If you are not eligible for the free flu vaccine, you can book it for a fee of $31.” The council said.
“We are running dedicated flu sessions between mid-April to June 2023. After June, flu bookings can be made in our general immunisation sessions.”
Knox City Council provided 850 free flu vaccines in 2022, with the majority of recipients being young children.
“The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has advised that the flu vaccine and the COVID-19 vaccine can be taken on the same day.” the council said.
