Through Yarra Ranges Council’s annual Grants for Community program, community groups and artists across the Yarra Ranges can apply for up to $10,000 in funding for events and projects from 1 June.
The Grants for Community program is designed to support not-for-profit groups and artists in the Yarra Ranges area, to deliver their projects in 2024.
Three funding categories are available: Arts and Heritage, Community Development, and Festivals and Events.
Recognising the challenging times faced by the community, Yarra Ranges Mayor, Jim Child, emphasised the importance of these grants in providing vital support to community groups and artists.
“Every year, we get a variety of interesting, and innovative projects, all of which have the potential to solve issues or capture opportunities in our communities by bringing community passion, knowledge and know how. These projects entertain, and engage people from different backgrounds,” Cr Child said.
“Our yearly grants provide artists and community groups with a level of certainty and support for their projects, helping them to plan, seek further funding or get the cogs turning to bring their idea to life.”
“One of the most important things we do at Council is support our community through programs such as Grants for Community, and I’d encourage anyone with a project or an idea to get in touch, talk through their concept and see if it’s eligible.”
Previous projects funded by Grants for Community include the Yarra Valley Open Studios, a project by the Philanthropic Collective to reduce food waste and empower people to be more self-sufficient, the Chin Community Homework Club, River Folk Festival, Selby fest, and Tribe Monbulk’s Youth Space.
