The CFA was called to a house fire on Wakley Crescent at Wantirna South at 7.30pm on Wednesday 6 September.
Firefighters found the second storey of the two-storey brick house was well alight.
The fire was brought under control at 8.09pm and declared safe at 8.30pm.
Ambulance Victoria was called to the scene to attend to a neighbour with respiratory concerns.
CFA had six vehicles on scene supported by FRV crews.
CFA will investigate the cause of the fire.
