Free firewood collection is open

Residents can now collect free firewood for personal use from state forest firewood collection areas until June 30.

There are 18 collection spots in the Port Phillip region of Victoria, which covers the Yarra Ranges.

Large volumes of firewood are available from strategic fuel break work by-product at Pioneer log dump, situated on Pioneer Creek Road, close to the Noojee-Yarra Junction Road intersection.

Other firewood collection areas can be found in Reefton, McMahons Creek, Warburton, Wesburn, Yarra Junction, Hoddles Creek, Gladysdale, Gilderoy, Three Bridges, Powelltown, Noojee, Toolangi, Dixons Creek and Chum Creek.

Remember to follow the rules:

Only collect from designated areas

Limit: 2 cubic metres per person per day

Max: 16 cubic metres per household per financial year
