School holidays are done, with a term that seemed to whizz by faster than seemed possible. One of my kids is quite set on whistling any chance they get, it’s quite musical but I am looking forward to being irritated by my neighbour whipper-snipping instead. We were lucky to get away into the sunshine and beach life in WA and our travel was chaotic but manageable. The kids were game for the adventure and freedom of caravan park life.
Parents of a certain demographic nationwide probably set their alarms or were hauled out of bed this last Sunday to tune into the mammoth episode of Bluey “The Sign” that aired on ABC.
This episode delivered highs, lows and everything in between, the Heeler family *spoilers* looked set to sell their house in amongst a family wedding with hijinks galore and plenty of Easter eggs for dedicated fans.
Any family that’s relocated with kids absolutely could have related to all the big feelings associated with leaving the home you’re kids grew up in.
I couldn’t help feeling that the episode might set unrealistic expectations for families facing a big move in the future. Moving is without no doubt a hard process, but being able to navigate into a different environment is exciting and worthwhile…let’s also not forget we don’t all have a choice sometimes.
I was absolutely blown away when Chilly Heeler decided to launch into a full search for the missing bride with four kids in tow. She must have had extra sleep or something to have the bandwidth for that one! Overall we all absolutely enjoyed it and my family went in for a rewatch later in the day.
In this busy world, finding activities that families can all do and enjoy seems to lock in automatic wins for connecting. As the routines of school, work and activities fill up daily schedules, taking a little time together always pays back tenfold. For my house that looks like Bluey, tacos, forest walks and sometimes even walking to school if we can muster in time.
Monday morning chaos and lots of stomping about eventually resolve in those tiny feet I both love and sigh in exasperation over are heading back into school. The house settles around the new quiet that emerges. I’ve sat and worked for over an hour and not one door has slammed or a voice has called down the hallway. Kind of amazing but I do miss them just a smidge. I catch myself whistling as I make a cup of coffee. Buh buh buh buh – Cat Squad!
