Gully loses power after pole fire

A power pole caught alight on the afternoon of Saturday 26 October, briefly dropping power to residents in several suburbs.

Nearly 2,000 residential homes were impacted by the outage in Upwey, Tecoma, Upper Ferntree Gully and Ferntree Gully.

CFA was called to the electric pole on fire on Ferndale Road at Upper Ferntree Gully at 1.08pm.

CFA media said the local power company was also called to the scene.

“The incident was brought under control just before 1.30pm and the scene was left with the power company.” they said.

“CFA had three trucks on scene from Upper Ferntree Gully.”
