Councillors of Knox City Council have been officially sworn in after recently being elected.
Set to serve a four-year term, nine Councillors were elected at the 26 October Council elections – with some new faces in the line up.
Knox has nine single member wards: Baird, Chandler, Collier, Dinsdale, Dobson, Friberg, Scott, Taylor and Tirhatuan.
At the swearing in ceremony, Knox CEO Bruce Dobson said with the oath of office , each of the councillors has commenced a role that will influence the future of the Knox community.
“Likely well beyond this next four years,” he said.
“You will work together and with the organisation to serve our Knox community, to make decisions that balance a wide range of perspectives, address complex challenges, and to steward the resources of this community with care and foresight.”
“That work will not always be easy, but it will be meaningful, impactful, and deeply rewarding. While the elections have been an individual contest, taking the oath this evening also marks the commencement of a collective journey – as having been sworn in as Councillors, you now take on a collective mantle.”
The nine Councillors are:
Baird Ward Councillor Peter Lockwood
Chandler Ward Councillor Paige Kennett
Collier Ward Councillor Chris Duncan
Dinsdale Ward Councillor Robert Williams
Dobson Ward Councillor Meagan Baker
Friberg Ward Councillor Parisa Considine
Scott Ward Councillor Lisa Cooper
Taylor Ward Councillor Susan Pearce
Tirhatuan Ward Councillor Glen Atwell
A meeting to elect the Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be held on Thursday 21 November.
The meeting starts 7pm at the Knox Civic Centre, and the community is invited to attend in person or watch online at webcast.knox.vic.gov.au
