The Rotary Club of Melbourne has launched the Rotary Victorian Music Scholarship, a new initiative designed to support Victoria’s most promising emerging musicians.
With a total prize pool of $10,000, this initiative provides financial support for tuition, instrument purchases, travel for performances, and other essential career-building expenses.
Rotary Melbourne is a longstanding advocate for the arts, committed to fostering young musicians and helping them access essential resources to create opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.
This scholarship will contribute to the artistic and professional development of its recipients, ensuring that economic constraints do not stand in the way of musical excellence.
“The Rotary Melbourne Music Scholarship fulfils two objectives: the furtherance of the arts and the values of Rotary with relationship to education and giving people in need a start in life. These values are epitomised in the work of this unique committee,” said international conductor and arts committee chairman at Rotary Melbourne David Kram.
The Rotary Victorian Music Scholarship offers financial support to help musicians with tuition fees, the purchase of instruments, travel expenses for performances, and other essential costs associated with advancing their careers.
The scholarship will be awarded as follows:
First Prize: $5,000
Second Prize: $3,000
Third Prize: $2,000
This scholarship is open to all Australian citizens residing in Victoria, with the selection process focusing on musical talent, artistic potential, financial need, and dedication to community engagement.

Applications are already open, and the shortlist will be announced in May.
Then the showcase and award ceremony will take place at Sofitel Melbourne in June.
“If I hadn’t received a music scholarship at a young age, I may not have had the opportunity to establish my music school and touring productions. The initial support encouraged me to thrive and share the gift of music with others,” said director of Hello Music Studios, arts committee member at Rotary Melbourne Karen Kim.
