Belgrave police prep for new op

A State-wide policing operation, Operation Roadwise, will commence in the lead up to the Christmas and New Year holiday period, and the local branches were no exception.

Belgrave Police were out amongst the community just after school drop-off on the morning of Wednesday 10 December.

Getting ready for some road policing and community engagement in Kallista, Selby and Belgrave South, the Police were preparing for a new operation set to commence over the summer holidays and into 2026.

From Thursday 18 December to Thursday 1 January 2026, the initiative uses staff from State and local road policing units, general duties and other operational Policing units.

With a focus on impaired driving, speed, fatigue, distraction and vulnerable road users like cyclists and pedestrians, police are using the operation to provide a highly visible, active and mobile police presence to reinforce positive driving behaviours and, in turn, reduce road trauma and deter people from breaking road rules.
