The Mount Evelyn Street Party is set to light up the town later this month, with stalls, stage performances, vibrant fashion, classic cars and much more.
The free, biennial event will take place on Wray Crescent on the 27 October.
The classic 1950s theme will once again return and help bring a colourful and vibrant atmosphere to the town.
One of the event’s many organisers, Michelle Puckey, said visitors can expect a bigger and better event this year.
“Preparation-wise it’s taken over a year to prepare an event like this. We’re expecting in excess of 10,000 people,” she said.
“There will be more market stalls.
“We’ve incorporated some great dance groups from the area, that will give people the opportunity to learn some dance steps.
“Our fashion contest has grown to include everything from 0 up.”
The Mount Evelyn Street Party first started in 2001 as an event with a few market stalls and some entertainment.
Michelle said since it was given the 1950s theme in 2015, it has transformed from a market to a festival.
“The theme agreed on was the 1950s because of the family values and the colour and the music,” she said.
“It went down so well and attracted so many people from all over Victoria.
“For families especially, the brightness, the colour and the music.”
This year’s event will host over 160 sites dedicated to market stalls, two headline acts on the rock and roll stage – The Rockin’ Tones and the Chuck Berry Review – and another stage dedicated to buskers, young kids and young bands.
A free shuttle bus will run from Mount Evelyn Primary School and Birmingham Primary School to keep traffic off the streets and to avoid the chaos of trying to find a park on the day.
The event will kick off with a community parade from 10am and will then run until 4pm.
Michelle said the event aims to encourage inclusion and sustainability and people are encouraged to dress up.
