Nude art scheme unveiled

By Tania Martin
A MONBULK artist is trying to gain support for the introduction of drawing classes with nude models.
Simon Duiker said there was a need for art classes in Monbulk and that he specialises in life drawings and was interested in bring nude life drawing to the town.
Mr Duiker grew up in Adelaide but after finishing university moved to Melbourne eight years ago to pursue a career in art.
He specialises in oil paintings and life drawings and currently has an exhibition on display at the Green Bean Cafe in Burwood Highway, Belgrave.
Mr Duiker said he wanted to encourage all local artists to join his nude life drawing classes.
He said so far he had several local mothers contact him who were interested in enrolling their children in drawing classes but that there wasn’t anything in the Monbulk area.
Mr Duiker said the classes would be run at the Monbulk’s St George’s Anglican Church in Main Street.
“I plan to get my first class up and running as soon as I have a full class together,” he said.
Anyone interested in taking life drawing classes should contact Simon on 9756 7869.
