Police petrol warning

POLICE are warning motorist to watch their fuel consumption after petrol was siphoned from several cars in Emerald last week.
Constable Jenni McKenna from Emerald police said petrol caps were stolen and petrol was siphoned from four cars in Charman Avenue and Nobelius Street.
She said motorists should keep an eye on their fuel consumption and report any discrepancies to police.
Const McKenna has also called for hills residents to clearly number their properties as emergency services are continually finding it difficult to locate houses in emergencies.
She said some residents feel that having a number on their house is enough but it was not.
“The house numbers need to be clearly visible of a night time,” she said.
Meanwhile, Monbulk police are investigating the damage of a car at the Olinda Arboretum on Friday, 14 July.
Senior Constable Ken Tromp said the car was broken into between 3pm and 4.30pm but nothing was stolen.
He said the offenders smashed the front windows and rummage through the glove compartment but left empty handed as there was nothing valuable in the vehicle to steal.
Anyone who may have seen or heard anything should contact Monbulk police on 9756 6266.
