BELGRAVE’S Mater Christi College is set to continue its development with the commencement of stage three of its building program.
This latest upgrade of the Catholic girls secondary college will include a VCE centre, a classroom block integrating the latest technology, a multi-purpose performance arts centre, a potential cafeteria space and three additional sports courts.
The stage three building upgrade forms part of the ongoing redevelopment program of Mater Christi, which in recent years has included a new hospitality centre, computer and science laboratories, and the latest staff facilities.
Mater Christi principal Mary Fitz-Gerald said: “With our substantial growth over the last decade, increasing from an enrolment of 700 to 1000 students, we identified the need to upgrade our facilities to offer our girls the best environment for learning.
“The strong demand for places at the college can be attributed to our innovative programs, our girls-focused education and the diverse opportunities and rich experiences we offer students.
“Providing modern facilities for our students is important and this next stage of our building program will further assist us in catering for the needs of our students now and into the future.”
Year seven enrolments for 2008 are already filling fast, with limited places available at other class levels.
