Mackin stars for Monbulk

A POWERFUL innings by U13’s Liam ‘Smack’em” Mackin was the highlight of Monbulk’s 99-run victory over ladder leaders Knoxfield in junior cricket round 4 action on Saturday.
After a solid start from openers Jake Evans (15) and Chris Anderson (23), Monbulk reached 9 for 194 with big-hitting Mackin unbeaten on 56.
Kelsey Currie (15) and Nick Keegan (13) also batted well late in the innings.
In the U15’s Monbulk had to get 98 to beat South Belgrave. Tom Hutchins, Brad Hilton and Spencer Martin kept the game alive with good partnerships but a late order collapse left the side 9 runs short of victory.
It was a tough morning for the U17’s while facing an Eildon Park.
The opposition’s score of 227 and with only 9 players, the boys got to 8 for 101. Justin Creed was solid with 27 and Sam Goland made 18.
