THERE was live music, great food, a great atmosphere, and more importantly, there were great cars and bikes.
The inaugural Monbulk Car and Bike show went off without a hitch with the main street filled with impressive cars and bikes.
Event organiser and President of the Monbulk Business Network John Coleman said the event exceeded all expectations, especially because Monbulk is not necessarily known for its cars and bikes.
“Well the show was outstanding, absolutely better than expected,” he said.
“We had anticipated that we would get around 150 cars because no one really thinks of Monbulk as a cars precinct but we had over 300 cars and bikes on the day.
“People who have lived in Monbulk all their lives said they have never seen so many people in Monbulk.”
The Monbulk Car and Bike show was an initiative to bring more business into the town and showcase all that Monbulk has to offer.
“It was so gratifying having such a wonderful turn out as the intention was to bring people into the town and bring business in for the traders,” Mr Coleman said.
“This is going to be an annual event and next year will be bigger and better.”
In addition to the show, it was also a charity fundraiser with all gold coin donations on the day donated to community charities in Monbulk.
Mr Coleman said $1000 had been given to the Monbulk CFA, $600 to Fernlea House and another $600 to the Arts for Disabilities Group that works under Monbulk Care.
“These are all wonderful groups and it is very important as a community to be supporting the various projects that go on,” he said.
