Jed judges’ top pick

A SIX-year-old girl who used to be terrified of dogs paraded her family’s new chocolate Labrador to take home the Best In Show trophy from the first St Paul’s Junior Dog Show in Monbulk on Saturday.
Caitlin Czaja and Jed, who celebrates his first birthday this week, won the class for handlers aged 5-7 years before going on to compete against seven other class winners for the main prize.
Monbulk Vet Clinic judges Gemma and Mike Coulter and Tina Kertesz said it was a difficult decision to make, but praised the temperament and conformation of Jed, who was bred in Tecoma by Lyndhurstlab stud.
Organiser Lisa Conway-Lee was ecstatic with the 35 dogs and 50 entries the Junior Dog Show attracted, and said St Paul’s Primary would definitely be running it again next year.
“It’s terrific to see so many children handling their dogs so confidently and having a great time as well,” Mrs Conway-Lee said.
