SELBY CFA is intent on ensuring its community is well prepared for this coming fire season.
The annual Selby Fire Brigade and Fire Awareness Info Day will be held on Saturday 21 November from 9am to 3pm with the local residents encouraged to attend.
The event has been well supported in its many years, thanks largely to its unique mix of fun and information.
On hand for guests are trash ‘n’ treasure, kids’ activities, a garden model railway display, books, homemade cakes, a huge selection of plants, hot and cold food an much more.
But there is a serious side to the day with information displays on hand to help the community prepare, as well as a chance to gain advice from the fire fighters themselves.
Selby CFA captain Neville Aldham encouraged resident to jot down the day in the diary, particularly those new to the area.
“We can get a big turnover of population into the Selby area, many are flatlanders and really don’t understand the region,” he said.
“It’s a great way to introduce them to the community and educate about fire awareness.
“I’ve been here every year for 30 years and it’s always been a great event.”
Donations of saleable treasures are most welcome.
