THE Monbulk College Year 7 boys volleyball team last Friday participated in the state volleyball finals after earlier in the year winning through their division and eastern region competitions, a competition which started with about 300 teams.
To reach the final was a fantastic effort.
On the day, the team played three pool games defeating Maribyrnong, Bendigo and Trafalgar.
They were then victors against Westall in the semi-final before finally defeating Eltham in the final to become state champions without losing a set.
This team also won the Victorian Schools Cup in term three and look forward to competing in upcoming Australian Volleyball Schools Cup with Monbulk College’s other seven teams.
This is the largest school sporting event in the Southern Hemisphere, involving about 4000 students from around Australian and New Zealand.
It is to be held in Melbourne from 6-11 December.
The Monbulk College Year 8 girls also participated in the state final last Thursday finishing runners-up continuing the successful and rich history of volleyball at Monbulk College.
