Rangers dominate VCFA awards

Monbulk Rangers Soccer Club captured the lion’s share of medals at the Victorian Churches Football Association’s junior awards night on the weekend, with the MRSC Scorpions winning the Under 16s Premiership and the Scorpions’ Max Lamers taking home the award for best and fairest player.
MRSC Dragons were well clear of the pack as VCFA Under 11s Premiers, scoring a remarkable 161 goals for the season and conceding just 3.
Runners-up were the MRSC Wizards.
Monbulk Rangers Jaguars were Under 15s runners-up and the Monbulk Rangers Rebels were Under 13s runners-up.
Club president and VCFA junior board member, Lisa Doolan, welcomed news the VCFA will introduce a small-sided junior girls competition in 2018.

VCFA – Women’s Premier League MRSC Lyrebirds second place; Div.1 MRSC Forest 7th place, Div.2 MRSC Knights 6th place, Div.3 MRSC Barons 1st place, Div.4 MRSC Jets 3rd place, Div.5 MRSC Nuggets 1st place.
Juniors – U10 MRSC Genies won 7-1 Berwick Blues, MRSC Dynamite lost 1-2 Berwick United. U11 MRSC Dragons won 15-0 Yarra Valley, MRSC Wizards won 4-1 Berwick United, MRSC Centaurs lost 1-2 Berwick Blues. U12 S1 MRSC Tigers lost 1-2 BNFC Raptors. U13 S1 MRSC Raiders won 2-1 MRSC Rebels. U15 S1 MRSC Jaguars won 5-3 BNFC Crocodiles, U15 S2 MRSC Panthers lost 1-2 Mooroolbark Raptors, MRSC Leopards won 2-0 MRSC Rudolfs. U16 MRSC Salamanders lost 0-2 KCSC Force, MRSC Scorpions won 4-0 Berwick Sharks.
FFV – Men’s State League 3 SE MRSC Firsts won 7-0 Noble Park UFC, Reserves won 5-1 Noble Park UFC; Womens SL 1 SE MRSC Firsts draw Brighton SC 1-1, Reserves lost 0-2 Brighton SC. Boys SE 18B MRSC Raptors lost Riversdale SC 2-4; Boys E 14B MRSC Cubs won 2-0 Boroondara Eagles; Boys E 12 Wallabies Red MRSC Lions won 9-0 Waverley Victory FC; Girls E 15-16C MRSC Spirits lost Glen Waverley Girls Storm 0-4; Girls SE 13-14D MRSC Sprites lost 0-3 Dandenong Thunder; Girls E 12 MRSC Spells lost 0-4 Brighton BK’s.
