Charges over cafe break-in

A teen bogged a stolen car while trying to avoid a booze bus in Montrose, police allege.

They arrested the 16-year-old Bayswater boy on Friday 27 July and charged him with motor car theft, burglary and attempted burglary.

Yarra Ranges CIU detectives allege he smashed a glass door to a cafe in Wray Crescent, Mount Evelyn, earlier that night and stole a cash register drawer.

They said he also smashed a window at a hair salon on Mount Dandenong Tourist Road in Montrose but didn’t gain access.

He was remanded in custody.
