In 2016 Yarra Ranges Council confirmed it would allocate up to $200,000 from federal funding to support solar heating for the Olinda Community pool.
That funding is now coming to fruition and it looks like the pool will be warm and temperate just in time for Christmas.
“Many moons ago we were lucky enough to receive a Federal funding grant to add Solar Water heating to Olinda Community Pool,” stated a facebook post on the Olinda Community Pool Facebook page.
“As you can see, it is now finally getting installed, and if we are good, Santa has promised it will be up and running by Christmas.”
“We expect it to deliver a boost to the water temperate at the front and end of the seasons, and can’t wait to see how well it performs for our community.”
As part of the same program, solar heating has already been added to the toddler pool.
President of the Olinda Community Pool Association James Edge said that the kids were already enjoying the heating in the toddler pool and said the opening pool party event on 1 December was massive success.
“Heating has already been added to the toddler pool and the children love it,” he said.
