A day of Total Fire Ban has been declared for tomorrow (21 November) for the entire State of Victoria.
No fire can be lit in the open air or be allowed to remain alight in the open air between midnight on Thu, 21 Nov 2019 and 12:59pm on Thu, 21 Nov 2019.
The Bureau of Meteorology is expecting the temperature in Melbourne to reach 39C degrees — 16 degrees higher than Melbourne’s November average — and has issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds
With heightened risk across the state due to significant weather conditions high temperatures and wind speeds of 85km per hour gusting up to 110km, CFA is preparing.
The day of Total Fire Ban means that tomorrow the 1000 steps and Dandenong ranges National park will also be closed. For your safety and that of our crews, please consider visiting or cycling at the beach tomorrow instead.
You should be preparing too. Now is the time to implement your fire plan and remember leaving early is the only guaranteed way to survive a bushfire.
If possible, consider also limiting travel in high risk/ heavily treed areas. Prepare now, implement your fire plans and stay informed.
