Baby bundle delight
New parents at Angliss Hospital received an extra bundle of joy recently, and it wasn’t just in the form of their newborn baby.
Jade and Tristian received a visit from Deputy Premier James Merlino and Bayswater MP Jackson Taylor on 7 February.
The parents recently celebrated the birth of their first daughter, Billie, and were presented with a Baby Bundle worth $150.
The initiative was part of the State Government’s election commitment to provide every new parent with a Baby Bundle.
Bundles are equipped with a teething ring, nappy bag, safe sleeping bag, a cotton wrap, first aid kit, baby sunhat, toothbrush and a grow suit.
James Merlino said he was delighted to present the bundle and get to know the staff at the hospital.
“It was amazing to chat with the staff at the Angliss about the exciting and challenging aspects of their jobs,” he said.
The staff at the Angliss do an amazing job and it was terrific to listen to their stories about the incredibly important work they do.”
According to the State Government, more than 20,000 bundles have been delivered since July last year.
Men’s Shed clean up
The first joint project between the Upwey and Belgrave Men’s Shed took place on 13 February.
It involved cleaning up the Bike Track between Upwey and Belgrave, with a total of six bags of rubbish collected.
A majority of rubbish items included soft drink cans, plastic bottles, slushy containers and straws.
Upwey Township, playground and Skate Park were also cleaned.
Monitoring of litter will be undertaken to determine frequency of any future clean ups.
The Upwey Men’s Shed said it is looking forward to coordinating with other groups to extend the clean-up into Knox Council area.
